IT WORKS AND I AM HAPPY FOR IT

I was driving this afternoon through the streets of Miami with my 11 years old. When suddenly an SUV gets really close to me and the driver asked something I was not able to understand. As I lowered my front passenger window a young guy asks: “ Oscar, who is Oscar?” I realized then that he was referring to my Free Dr. Oscar Biscet bumper sticker.

I then explained to him that Dr. Biscet is a Cuban political prisoner. He gave me a very surprised look and told me; “I just came from Cuba; I go there to take Roller-Skates to some kids. This is my forth time and I had no idea who he was.” I told him that there were many things he probably did not know regarding the Island. He was very interested in knowing more about Biscet and told me that he was going to check-out the website on the bumper sticker.

Now the light is green, other cars are honking their horns, everybody is in a hurry, and he asked: “and what exactly did he do” I said: “He just wants to defend all Cubans civil rights.” He shook his head and we parted ways.

My 11 years old told me then: “I guess it works mom” and it does and I am very happy for it.
